About the Role

At Westmead Hospital, you’ll be part of something bigger! Upon joining our Facilities Maintenance team at Westmead Hospital you’ll be helping to keep one of NSW’s largest and busiest hospitals running smoothly behind the scenes.

What You’ll Be Doing
The plumber role focuses on efficient and compliant maintenance of plumbing systems, ensuring all work meets NSW Health guidelines and WSLHD objectives.
In this role you will:
- Handle reactive and planned plumbing maintenance across Westmead Hospital.
- Keep systems running – hot water, leaks, blockages, and more.
- Complete compliance checks and inspections.
- Use AFM Online to manage and record tasks.
- Work closely with staff and contractors to minimise disruption.

Essential Criteria must haves
- Qualifications: Current Plumber’s licence, or plumber tradesperson with qualification in one of the following: Gas fitter, Drainer; TMV, Backflow prevention.
- Plumber Level 1: Completed Apprenticeship and/or holds relevant trade certificate or equivalent
- Plumber Level 2: 120 hours of approved courses completed
- Plumber Level 3: 240 hours of approved courses completed
- Plumber Level 4: 360 hours of approved courses completed
Our Selection Criteria and What We’re Looking For
- Current Plumber’s Licence or equivalent trades qualification in gas, drainage, TMV or backflow.
- Solid experience working with plumbing and hydraulic systems in commercial sites or hospital campus environments.
- Hands-on knowledge and experience maintaining TMVs, backflow devices and hydraulic systems.
- Understanding of WHS practices and the ability to apply them daily.
- Familiarity with digital software systems like CMMS or similar, AFM Online, and Microsoft Office.
- Someone with the ability to manage workshop workflow, tools, and materials.
- A can-do attitude and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork
