Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above positions (part time or full time) in the Western Sydney Local Health District. The positions will be located at Westmead within the Department of Gynaecological Oncology.

 

The successful applicants will hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (RANZCOG) or equivalent. The successful applicants will have broad experience across obstetrics and gynaecology at a tertiary centre, above average clinical skills and judgement, and superior interpersonal skills.

 

Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship 6 within months of the planned commencement date for the positions may be considered. If successful, the applicant may not be subsequently eligible to commence their appointment until after the relevant qualifications and requirements are formally completed.

 

Requirements of the role includes:

 

·         Qualifications and credentials required for core scope of practice in the specialty.

·         Evidence of additional qualifications, skills and/or experience required for specific scope of practice for the specialty.

·         Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including:

o    Proven ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team.

o    Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.

o    Excellent organisational, supervision and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to build respectful relationships.

o    Maintaining and developing knowledge, skills and professional performance to the level required for contemporary practice.

o    Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and translation of research into practice to improve patient safety and quality.

·          Demonstrated ability to manage time and resources efficiently and contributing to the effectiveness and efficiency of the health care system.

·         Demonstrated aptitude for clinical leadership which is evidenced by:

o    Systems thinking and risk-taking aptitude.

o    commitment to self -care and personal development.

o    Capacity to maintain personal integrity, tolerate stress and demonstrate resilience.

·         Demonstrated commitment to Education, Training and Research, as applicable to the position

Selection Criteria

 

§   Must possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) or equivalent as provided for in the Staff Specialists (State) Award. Must have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Australian Residency.

§   Must possess broad experience across gynaecological oncology, including high level assessment, prioritisation and surgical skills as demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position

§   Must have had experience in a clinical research environment, including, but not limited to, clinical trial design and development, protocol development, and database development and must be prepared to be involved in the research output of the department including providing assistance to other staff in their research endeavours.

§   Must have a demonstrated interest in training and education of registrars & fellows; must be prepared to make a contribution to the education of fellows, registrars, residents and nurses including, on occasion, outside normal working hours

§   Must have a demonstrated interest in healthcare delivery systems

§   Must be prepared to provide occasional leave relief to other consultants, as required by the Head of Department
