About the Role 

Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.

   

The Research Program and Database Officer is an integral member of the research team within the Surgical Outcomes Research Centre (SOuRCe), responsible for and assist with planning, implementation, coordination, data management and reporting of concurrent research projects conducted within SOuRCe.

   

These research studies will be varied and will require that the Research Program and Database Officer be able to work on concurrent projects with competing deadlines across multiple disciplines. This will include assisting in the development and implementation of research protocols, ethics and governance submission, project management, consumer engagement, patient recruitment, data collection, patient follow up, data analysis, manuscript preparation and report writing.

   

The Research Program and Database Officer will utilise their knowledge of clinical and health services research in the establishment and maintenance of productive working relationships with internal and external collaborators, departments and staff.

Ideal Candidate

  • Health related degree and/or experience in research, clinical trials or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in conducting research in a health service environment.
  • Excellent skills in quantitative or qualitative clinical/public health/health services research, including secure data management, data collection, ability to master new concepts and skills, coordinate HREC and RGO submissions, and conduct basic statistical analysis.
