Where you'll be working

Population and Community Health (PaCH) is part of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.
 
PaCH provides community health services that give care to individuals, families and carers, as well as population health services that focus on the whole community or key groups within the community.
 
PaCH's services are provided at the District's hospitals, community-based facilities including child and family health centres, community health centres and specialist clinics. We work with other service providers across South Eastern Sydney Local Health District, including hospitals and mental health services.

What you'll be doing

The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.

A clinician at this level will exercise professional judgement in accordance to their years of experience. They will provide high quality clinical services to eligible clients within a health promoting philosophy that incorporates assessing oral health needs, diagnosis and care planning, the provision of preventive, restorative, periodontal and palliative care and working with groups and communities to promote oral health. These services will be provided in a wide range of settings; mentoring and support will be provided dependent on individual skills and qualifications.

  1. Hold relevant registration from the Dental Board of Australia/ Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an oral health therapist or both the registrations of dental therapist and dental hygienist.
  2. Demonstrated clinical experience and ability to exercise professional judgment commensurate with years of experience.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of best practice oral health clinical care practices and infection control standards.
  4. Demonstrated evidence of participating in oral health promotion/population health programs and an understanding of evidenced based approaches to preventing dental disease.
  5. Highly developed interpersonal/communication skills and experience working effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  6. Demonstrated ability to contribute to and participate in quality improvement activities.
  7. Demonstrated organisational and time management skills.
  8. Ability and willingness to travel for work purposes. This may involve travel to various locations with the Local Health District to provide oral health outreach services to areas in need.
