About the Opportunity

The Nursing Unit Manager is responsible for the efficient management of the nursing and other relevant staff under their delegation and coordination of the provision of nursing care in the Emergency Department. The Nursing Unit Manager provides leadership and maintains an effective working relationship with staff, other health professionals and customers of the organisation with a primary focus on the daily operations of the Emergency Department.

Liverpool Hospital are seeking a driven and dynamic Nurse Unit Manager to join the progressive team in the Emergency Department.

This is a rare opportunity to become part of the Executive Nursing Team at Liverpool hospital where you can make long lasting, strategic changes to the Emergency Department and wider hospital.

Bringing your extensive knowledge of Emergency Department operations to the role, you will be a person of influence who can drive positive, strategic change within the department and be adaptable in your approach. You will oversee the operations of the department and work to meet ministry KPI's and ensure triage benchmarks to support safe and timely access to care.

We are seeking an individual who can ensure a range of challenges are managed in a timely and efficient manner and you will be able to communicate with a range of stakeholders on all levels to improve the functions of the department. You will be a resilient leader who can advocate for your team and be responsive and progressive in your approach to managing the department.

What You'll be Doing

The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) is in-charge of all aspects of the unit environment and takes overall responsibility for the standard of patient care in the unit. The NUM is pivotal to the coordination of patient care, unit management and leadership to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and efficient use of resources.
 

Where You'll Be Working 

  • Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
  • The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
  • Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
  • Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.
  • Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.
