An opportunity to join the leadership team at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital Perioperative Service is now available in the Day Surgery area.

This position is responsible for the nursing teams within the Integrated Booking Unit for elective surgery, day of surgery admissions and procedures as well as the endoscopy service for the hospital. This is a growing service for both adult and paediatric patients, with a focus on person centred care and carer participation within the journey.

What you'll be doing

The NSLHD Nursing and Midwifery Workforce will be compassionate, competent, confident, contemporary, capable and committed to leading person-centred health care.

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) will manage a unit or ward in order to provide a quality standard of care to NSLHD Patients.

Day Surgery Unit is the admission area for elective surgery and provides the care for the Day of Surgery patients and Endoscopy service .

People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background encouraged to apply.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Registered Nurse-Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) and Relevant management tertiary qualification OR equivalent work experience, OR a combination of study and work experience; and demonstrated commitment to professional development.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  3. Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and support a clinical team.
  4. Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy in Microsoft Applications, roster management systems and electronic medical records.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in change management and initiating a new service delivery model within an established service.
  6. Evidence of and commitment to patient/customer focussed care, clinical governance and quality improvement.
  7. Knowledge of Elective Surgery and Day of Surgery processes and an understanding of the management of an endoscopy service or equivalent.
