We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Educator Grade 2 to serve as the Clinical Placement Coordinator and Workforce Development Lead. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for coordinating student clinical placements and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with external stakeholders.
You will also contribute to the development and implementation of education programs, including the Nursing Clinical Streams Program at Prince of Wales Hospital. Additionally, this position emphasises leadership in Quality, Safety, and Culture facilitation to support continuous improvement within our clinical environment.

Where you'll be working

Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care. Nurse Educator Grade 2 is the grade used for Registered Nurses holding post registration nursing clinical or education qualifications relevant to the clinical area in which he/she is appointed, or qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer; and who is appointed to a position of Nurse Educator Grade 2.

A Nurse Educator Grade 2  shall be responsible for one of the following:
  • A nursing education portfolio or program across a public hospital or affiliated health organisation (including but not limited to a transition program, enrolled nurse or registered nurse program);
  • A nursing program for a clinical division or divisions across a public hospital or affiliated health organisation, or;
  • A nursing program for a community based health service such as community health or mental health services

Clinical supervision at the point of care is the role and responsibility of each Registered Nurse and Enrolled Nurse within everyday clinical practice, in line with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.

Selection Criteria
  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
  2. Holds a post registration clinical or education qualification relevant to the position
  3. Recent experience in the development of practice
  4. Demonstrated effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation
  5. Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate education and training programs
  6. Demonstrated understanding of contemporary adult learning principles
  7. Computer literacy and understanding of relevant information systems
