What you'll be doing
As the Nurse Unit Manager at Westmead NICU, you will lead and manage a specialised nursing team delivering critical care to neonates with complex and varied medical needs. You will play a key role in driving clinical excellence, supporting staff development, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and family-centred care.
- Provide clinical leadership and coordinate nursing services within the fast-paced NICU environment
- Support and mentor nursing staff to deliver evidence-based, compassionate neonatal care
- Oversee patient flow, discharge planning, and resource allocation in line with unit priorities
- Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance care delivery and patient outcomes
- Ensure compliance with NSW Health policies, professional standards, and safety regulations

- Recent relevant management experience and/or post graduate qualifications deemed appropriate by WSLHD.
- Extensive recent post registration clinical experience and knowledge of current relevant nursing issues
- Proven leadership and management skills and demonstrated ability to coach, lead, manage and support a clinical team
- Demonstrated knowledge in initiating and implementing changes to improve clinical service delivery and outcomes, models of care, evidence-based practice and practice development.
- Evidence of and commitment to patient/ client-focused care, clinical governance and quality improvement.
