What you'll be doing 
As the Nurse Unit Manager at Westmead NICU, you will lead and manage a specialised nursing team delivering critical care to neonates with complex and varied medical needs. You will play a key role in driving clinical excellence, supporting staff development, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and family-centred care.

  • Provide clinical leadership and coordinate nursing services within the fast-paced NICU environment
  • Support and mentor nursing staff to deliver evidence-based, compassionate neonatal care
  • Oversee patient flow, discharge planning, and resource allocation in line with unit priorities
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance care delivery and patient outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with NSW Health policies, professional standards, and safety regulations

  1. Recent relevant management experience and/or post graduate qualifications deemed appropriate by WSLHD.
  2. Extensive recent post registration clinical experience and knowledge of current relevant nursing issues
  3. Proven leadership and management skills and demonstrated ability to coach, lead, manage and support a clinical team
  4. Demonstrated knowledge in initiating and implementing changes to improve clinical service delivery and outcomes, models of care, evidence-based practice and practice development.
  5. Evidence of and commitment to patient/ client-focused care, clinical governance and quality improvement.
