Selection Criteria

  1. Current nursing/midwifery registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with a minimum of 4 years post graduate experience and including 3 years Mental Health.
  2. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, excellent written, verbal communication skills with computer literacy and ability to use a variety of the NSW Health computer applications.
  3. Proven ability to create and maintain a positive workplace culture and articulate and achieve a vision for nursing services within a multidisciplinary community MHDA environment. The ability to negotiate resolutions and manage conflict.
  4. Demonstrated focus on service excellence through the ability to read and act on issues quickly, decisively and effectively and to apply and share professional expertise to enhance consumer care including actively contributing to the development of clinical practice in the unit by: Being involved in quality improvement initiatives Contribute to development of new clinical practices / policy Represent the unit at team / clinical meetings when required Ability to develop training packages of clinical specialty material
  5. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, coach, mentor, encourage and guide others to enable them to reach their full potential and effectively adapt to ongoing change within a multidisciplinary group with broad clinical experience and knowledge by: Ability to act as a mentor to less experienced team members, including students and new graduate nurses and new team members of multidisciplinary team Provide clinical advice to less experienced experience nurses and other health professionals Act as a preceptor to new staff and students in the clinical area
  6. Knowledge and understanding of mental health issues within the perinatal period with preparedness to undergo any recommended further training in this area.
  7. Licence to drive a motor vehicle in NSW.
