What You'll be Doing
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is educated and endorsed to function autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role. The NP role includes assessment and management using nursing knowledge and skills. The role may include, but is not limited to, the direct referral of patients to other health care professionals, prescribing medications and initiating and interpreting diagnostic investigations.

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  2. Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia including endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner or working towards same as per the NMBA Guidelines on endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner. Post graduate qualifications a Masters level, in a NMBA approved program of study or relevant clinical specialty, or working towards.
  3. Demonstrated high-level knowledge and advanced clinical nursing skills, including comprehensive assessment, interpretation of diagnostics, and implementation of treatment modalities, along with relevant referral expertise applied to a broad range of challenging, complex, and evolving situations. Additionally, proven ability to lead, implement, and drive improvements within the Alcohol and Other Drugs care delivery system by initiating, utilising, and reviewing evidence-based research to shape and advance clinical practice.
  4. Proven high-level knowledge and expertise in complex client-centred consultancy and practice development activities, including mentoring, education, active participation in communities of practice, policy development, and quality improvement. Additionally, demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and accountability while fostering collaboration within multidisciplinary and multi-service environments to enhance outcomes and drive best practices.
  5. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
