Are you a dynamic, compassionate leader with a passion for person centred care? We're looking for an experienced Nurse Manager to lead and support our Admissions and Perioperative Services.

Where You'll Be Working:
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. The Nurse Manager of Admissions and Perioperative Services is responsible for the coordination of elective and unplanned surgery for the Prince of Wales Hospital in collaboration with key stakeholders. The Nurse Manager of Admissions and Perioperative Services is responsible for ensuring elective surgical patients receive their surgery within the timeframes appropriate for their clinical priority. The Nurse Manager of Admissions and Perioperative Services contributes towards the delivery of safe quality clinical services through the effective leadership and management of the Admissions Office and the Elective Surgery Waiting List. The position is responsible for the leadership and management of the nursing and associated workforce within the Admissions Office.

The Nurse Manager of Admissions and Perioperative Services will lead and oversee the operations of the perioperative services as they relate to the flow of cases through the service. This includes managing human resources and all equipment/stock efficiently.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Registered Nurse who holds current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  2. Relevant management tertiary qualification or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience with a demonstrated commitment to professional development.
  3. Sound knowledge of current organisational and statewide key performance indicators as they relate to Perioperative Services and their relevance to the Division.
  4. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills, including negotiation skills
  5. Demonstrated ability to analyse and contribute to the resolution of issues related to the day to day function of the clinical area
  6. Demonstrated senior experience in clinical and operational management within a complex health care service, including in strategic planning, the development and implementation of Business and Operational Plans and achieving workforce and budgetary targets.
  7. Current drivers licence or a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position.
  8. Demonstrated understanding of the various health ICT software programs/ apps required in role and ability to use same.
