The Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick is a as a campus of  the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network(SCHN). The SCHN  is the largest paediatric health care entity in Australia. What you'll be doing
The Nurse Educator (NE) Grade 2 Undergraduate/Postgraduate will join an established team to assist in the development and delivery of nursing education programs within this portfolio. The NE 2 will also identify opportunities to develop the capability of the workforce to respond to current and emerging paediatric areas of healthcare. The NE 2 has a responsibility to identify educational and professional development needs and to provide the structures and resources to enable learning for nurses in the paediatric setting. The role contributes to a positive learning culture and supports ward staff to understand and respond to the learning needs of transitioning staff including first year transition registered and enrolled nurses.

This position acts as an appropriate and effective role model to promote culture and standards that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment and works collaboratively with the NE 2 Undergraduate/ Postgraduate at The Sydney Children's Hospital  and the  education team within The Childrens Hospital at Westmead.   

 

This position will form part of a well-supported and engaged education team, where you will have the capacity to develop significant professional relationships across specialities within paediatric health care.

About you:
The successful candidate will be a proactive, driven educator who has post registration clinical or education qualification relevant to the position, have demonstrated effective leadership skills including highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation.You will be team focused with a genuine passion to develop nurses skills and knowledge within a paediatric context.

  
 
  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  2. Relevant post registration nursing/ midwifery clinical or education qualifications relevant to the clinical area.
  3. Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate education and training programs for paediatrics and adolescents within the portfolio or responsibility.
  4. Demonstrated effective leadership skills including the ability to communicate, negotiate and problem solve.
  5. Demonstrate evidence of the provision of relevant education material and programs that incorporate the use of adult learning principles.
  6. Evidence of being professionally active within the specialty area of paediatrics and adolescents demonstrating self-motivation along with competence in managing competing priorities to deliver quality outcomes
  7. Evidence of preparation of written submissions and reports and demonstrated skills in the use of MS Office
