Where you'll be working:
We are a specialist mental health service providing multidisciplinary assessments and clinical interventions for youth aged 0-17 experiencing complex mental health concerns. We have staff based at Tamworth, Armidale, & Inverell, and we work collaboratively across the region. Our team comprises psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, a nurse and a dietitian.

Our team thrives on collaboration, working closely with schools, GPs, juvenile justice, and other community and hospital-based services to provide wraparound care. The role offers great variety and the chance to work across different settings, with strong support from leadership both within CAMHS and across broader district-wide networks, including dietetics and specialist services. It’s a vibrant, connected environment where your contribution will be valued and your professional growth supported.

About the role:
This role will provide expert assessment and evidence-based psychological treatments for children, youth and their families experiencing complex mental health concerns. You will work alongside other disciplines, often in a co-therapy model, to provide holistic, trauma-informed, carer-inclusive care.

As a Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will also join the leadership team within CAMHS, helping to shape the future of our service. In this exciting role, you’ll be providing onsite leadership in our Armidale office, you’ll be supervising students and early career psychologists, and you will also be driving service improvement initiatives.

You will be supported in this role by the NENW CAMHS Team Leader, CAMHS Rural & Regional Clinical Coordinator, Head of Discipline for Psychology, and our CAMHS Senior Clinical Psychologist for Education & Innovation.

About you:
We’re seeking a Senior Clinical Psychologist with clinical endorsement and a strong background in mental health assessment, intervention, and care planning for children and young people with complex presentations. You’ll bring advanced clinical expertise, demonstrated leadership in influencing change, and a commitment to evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally safe care.

You’ll have a proven ability to build strong partnerships with a range of stakeholders, including Aboriginal communities, and contribute strategically to service development. A sound understanding of relevant legislation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to exercise independent clinical judgment are essential.

Requirements:
  • Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent, displayed on the Psychology Board of Australia website.
  • Eligibility to drive in NSW and willingness to travel for work purposes.
  • Extensive experience or demonstrated ability to work with acute mental distress in child and youth community mental health settings.
