Where you'll be working:
You'll be joining the dynamic New England North West CAMHS Community Team—a passionate, multidisciplinary group made up of psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, mental health nurses, and medical staff. Together, we deliver comprehensive mental health care to young people and their families across the New England and North West regions, supporting those with complex and often challenging needs.

Our team thrives on collaboration, working closely with schools, GPs, juvenile justice, and other community and hospital-based services to provide wraparound care. The role offers great variety and the chance to work across different settings, with strong support from leadership both within CAMHS and across broader district-wide networks, including dietetics and specialist services. It’s a vibrant, connected environment where your contribution will be valued and your professional growth supported.

About the role:
In this role, you’ll provide specialist dietetic services to young people and their families experiencing complex mental health challenges across the New England North West CAMHS. You'll apply advanced clinical reasoning and exercise professional judgement to assess, plan, and deliver tailored nutritional care in community settings. With a focus on improving outcomes for clients with diverse and complex needs, you’ll work independently while being well supported by the wider multidisciplinary team.

This position also offers the opportunity to step into a progressive role—shaping and developing nutrition care services within CAMHS, driving quality improvement initiatives. Strong collaborative partnerships with internal stakeholders and community organisations will be central to your work, ensuring integrated and responsive care for young people and their families.

In this role, you’ll be well-supported through a range of professional development and supervision opportunities. You’ll be connected to a district-wide network of dietitians through regular meetings and a weekly newsletter featuring training updates and resources. Clinical supervision will be available to help guide your practice, including tailored support from a senior CAMHS dietitian. You’ll also have access to specialist training, to help you grow your skills and confidence in this unique and rewarding area. This includes access to clinical support and training in eating disorders from the Eating Disorder Clinical Support Team and other clinicians.

About you:
We’re looking for a skilled and compassionate dietitian with strong mental health literacy and a genuine passion for supporting young people and their families. Ideally, you’ll have experience working in child and adolescent settings, and bring a trauma-informed, person-centred approach to care. Your clinical skills will be well-rounded, and you’ll be confident in navigating complex presentations with empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to making a meaningful difference.

Requirements:
  • Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in nutrition and dietetics that provides eligibility for full membership of the Dietitians Australia (DA), or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Eligible to drive in NSW.

At Hunter New England Health, enjoy a career where you're challenged by interesting work and surrounded by spectacular locations. You'll contribute to the team enriching health in millions of ways every day. On top of this we also offer:
