We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join Sydney Children's Hospitals Network’s (SCHN) Media and Communications team. Within a collaborative and supportive environment, you will be assisting in creating communications for SCHN, both internal and external, to promote SCHN as world leaders in paediatric healthcare. Using your expertise and experience, you will work with a variety of stakeholders to develop communication campaigns and create audience-specific content for a variety of platforms including intranet, website, written publications and social media. You will also collaborate with the wider Communications and Engagement Directorate in facilitating media opportunities for SCHN, working in partnership with staff, patients and families.

What you'll be doing
The Communications and Engagement Directorate is responsible for implementing the communication, media and engagement strategies, maximising positive communication opportunities, and promoting the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network (SCHN), its facilities and associated institutions.

The Media and Communications Officer, in partnership with, the Communications and Engagement Directorate, is responsible for maintaining the SCHN’s media profile, both internally and in the community. They are responsible for developing and executing communications activities across media and digital channels, handling reactive media enquiries and proactive content development and delivery for various projects across the SCHN. 

The position works in close collaboration with communications colleagues across the SCHN, NSW Health and Minister's media teams.
  1. A degree in media relations, journalism or relevant field or, equivalent work experience (including dealing with media and production crews), or a combination of study and work experience.
  2. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills, proven interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with staff and community at all levels, including government representatives.
  3. Proven ability to coordinate and evaluate campaigns across various communication channels including media, website and social media.
  4. Demonstrated skills in organisation and time management, as well as a demonstrated ability to be self directed and innovative.
  5. Experience developing, writing and editing content, and translating complex information for a range of audiences.
  6. Experience in supporting video production, podcast production and/or photography.
  7. Demonstrated ability to maintaining a high level of knowledge and understanding of media, communication and emerging changes.
