About the Opportunity

The HIV & Related Programs Health Promotion Team at SWSLHD is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Health Promotion Officer to plan and implement sexual health and blood borne virus health promotion programs.

We are looking for someone with experience in health promotion and a deep understanding of the needs of priority populations in the areas of HIV, STIs, hepatitis C and hepatitis B.

 

What You'll be Doing
The Health Promotion Officer will plan, implement and evaluate programs aimed at the prevention and treatment of HIV, STI and viral hepatitis. The HPO will work collaboratively with team members and partners within SWSLHD and externally.

  1. Demonstrated experience and knowledge in planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion initiatives particularly relating to BBV prevention and sexual health issues and promotion.
  2. Experience working in community-based settings particularly with diverse communities.
  3. Understanding of, and sensitivity to issues relating to priority populations.
  4. Demonstrated experience in project planning, implementation, evaluation and dissemination of best practice interventions
  5. Understanding of evidence-based health promotion
  6. Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with other staff and government, non-government and community organisations
  7. Effective organisational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision, and demonstrated high-level oral, written and computer skills
  8. Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience working in health, social science or related field
  9. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
