What you will be doing: 

A fantastic opportunity exists for Health and Security Assistants to join our team in the Blue Mountains on a casual basis working across both Katoomba and Springwood Hospitals.


Your position as Health and Security Assistant will see you:

  • Maintain a high standard of security and documentation of events
  • Assist with the management of aggressive and/or difficult patients and visitors, respond to alarm signals to ensure a safe and secure work environment for staff, patients and visitors.
  • Undertake cleaning duties to a professional standard and per the local cleaning schedule.
  • Perform cleaning duties as rostered in accordance with Ministry of Health Standards and Procedures, including terminal cleans, high cleaning, outside cleaning and removal of soiled linen to ensure infection control and quality standards are met.

 
The team is experienced, with an environment that fosters a culture of learning and risk minimisation approach towards safe care.

Locally, the Blue Mountains area is World Heritage listed, with Katoomba the gateway to amazing landscapes, crisp mountain air, galleries, wineries, fabulous food, and charming surrounding townships.

The Hospital supports a community population of approximately 80,000 and is easily accessible to Sydney.

All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course (2 doses) of a Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine (except for the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine which is approved by the TGA as a single dose primary course). New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health or provide an Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW. A NSW Health agency may require further information about the medical contraindication (including but not limited to an Immunisation Medical Exemption form – IM011 form).

 

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.


Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection Criteria to be addressed:

  1. Current NSW Security Licence (Class 1A)
  2. Recent experience working in a Hospital Security Officer or Health and Security Assistant role
  3. Ability and willingness to work shift work, unsupervised and as part of a team
  4. Demonstrated sound, written and verbal communication skills
  5. Understanding and ability to maintain confidentiality principles
  6. Demonstrated understanding of Work Health & Safety requirements
  7. Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
  8. Current First Aid Certificate
