What you'll be doing
This role will also be frequently involved in clinical genetic counselling whereby the genetic counsellor will integrate their clinical genomic knowledge, health communication and counselling skills to facilitate clients’ informed choices about their healthcare.
- Post graduate qualification in Genetic Counselling with ‘board eligible’ status with Human Genetic Society of Australasia in Genetic Counselling.
- Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the provision of genetic counselling and application of genomic medicine in clinical care and research.
- Demonstrated advanced reasoning skills with ability to problem solve, prioritise work and meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary team but also to utilise sound professional judgement and operate with minimal direct clinical supervision (commensurate with experience).
- Demonstrated well developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use health information systems. Familiarity with research databases is desirable.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and a commitment to work towards certification in Genetic Counselling with the Human Genetics Society of Australasia.
