Selection Criteria to be Addressed:
- Current trade qualifications as a Fitter and Machinist as well as recognised certificates in Welding (light gauge preferred) and preferable if you have a boiler attendant certificate
- Demonstrated knowledge of current WHS Act and relevant regulations as well as knowledge of current relevant Australian Standards
- Demonstrated experience and ability to perform fitting and machining work and associated physical/manual labouring tasks in a safe manner on varied and complex hospital plant and equipment
- Demonstrated ability to be able to read plans, specifications and interpret drawings, estimate cost, time and materials of fitting and machining works
- Availability to be on an afterhours call roster and to attend works at the NBMLHD after hours when called upon
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and must be able to take oral and written direction from the maintenance management and maintain a co-operative working relationship with management, other trades staff and hospital staff and maintain the Health code of conduct
- Valid current NSW Drivers Licence and be able to travel within the NBMLHD as directed
- Basic computer skills
