About the role:

A typical day in this role is fast paced and unpredictable. You could go from assisting a patient recovering from knee surgery to facilitating a retrieval in the emergency department. You'll care for a wide variety of patients, from general medical and post-surgical to palliative care. Working across both the acute ward and emergency department, you'll be challenged to use your critical thinking skills to assess and treat emergency presentations.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for hands-on nursing and a willingness to upskill as needed. Onsite training is provided by visiting Clinical Nurse Educators (CNEs), along with paid education days offered by other facilities within the HNE LHD. You will be supported through comprehensive onsite orientation, personalised education plans, and access to district CNEs for further development. Additionally, close working relationships are fostered with the neighbouring site in Scone, where you’ll have opportunities to periodically work, enhancing your clinical skills. Regular 30-day and 60-day check-ins with your manager, along with yearly performance reviews, ensure continuous growth and support in line with HNE LHD policies.

Where you’ll be working:

Wilson Memorial Hospital is located in the charming town of Murrurundi, offering 24-hour emergency care, inpatient services, palliative care, aged care, rehabilitation, and outpatient services. The hospital boasts a diverse and collaborative team, including experienced EENs, RNs, and support from an onsite Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE), with opportunities for further education and mentorship from district CNEs and NUMs.

Murrurundi is situated 314 km north of Sydney via the New England Highway and 40 km north of Scone. This hidden gem is home to fascinating local attractions, including the Timor Caves and Wallabadah Rock, the largest monolith in Australia after Uluru and Mount Augustus.
