Ready to take the lead in shaping safer, healthier workplaces across one of NSW’s largest health districts? We’re seeking a dynamic and people-focused WHS leader to drive cultural and strategic change across Hunter New England Local Health District.


Your Impact

In this senior WHS leadership role, you’ll work at a district-wide level to:

  • Lead and evolve WHS policy and programs using evidence-based risk management principles.
  • Provide expert guidance to senior managers and WHS coordinators to embed WHS systems and elevate safety culture.
  • Champion initiatives that promote behavioural safety – from National Safe Work Month celebrations to monthly safety communications.
  • Coordinate and oversee the District’s WHS Audit Program, ensuring alignment with NSW Health’s requirements.
  • Provide trusted support and guidance when engaging with external bodies, including SafeWork NSW.
  • Analyse WHS trends and deliver actionable insights through monthly reporting.
  • Support the design and delivery of targeted WHS training in partnership with internal education providers.

 
What We’re Looking For

  • A confident and strategic people leader with deep expertise in WHS and risk.
  • Proven experience influencing WHS culture at scale across a complex organisation.
  • Strong working knowledge of NSW WHS legislation and demonstrated ability to lead audit programs.
  • A skilled communicator who can engage, influence and support diverse stakeholders to achieve safety excellence.
  • Someone flexible and mobile – travel across sites in HNELHD (including overnight stays) is part of the role.

Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in strategic WHS management at a senior level in a large diverse organisation.
  • Eligibility to drive in NSW and ability to travel between sites within HNELHD, with stays away from home as required.
