We are seeking a dynamic and driven District Surgical Project Officer to support and lead the delivery of key initiatives within the HNELHD Surgical Services Strategy. This is a pivotal role that will see you working closely with operational managers, clinicians, and executive teams to ensure patients across the district receive timely, high-quality, and equitable access to elective surgical services.
Your Impact:
As the District Surgical Project Officer, you will:
- Partner with the District Surgical Waitlist Manager to support strategic and operational improvements across elective surgical services.
- Coordinate the District’s response to the HNE/MOH Surgical Taskforce.
- Manage outsourced elective surgery agreements.
- Drive initiatives aimed at reducing wait times, expanding surgical capacity, and improving throughput across facilities.
- Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders—including clinicians, general managers, and patient access teams—to operationalise integrated care models and deliver against KPIs.

About You:
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience in surgical waitlist management and improving elective surgery access.
- Ability to develop and implement district-wide strategies that reduce overdue surgeries.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working across multidisciplinary teams.
- Extensive background in health service delivery and leading change in complex environments.
- Excellent leadership, project management, and problem-solving skills to drive service improvements.
