The Bureau of Health Information (BHI) is a board-governed organisation that provides independent reports on the performance of the NSW public healthcare system. BHI’s primary purpose is to provide timely, accurate and comparable information on the performance of the NSW public healthcare system in ways that enhance the system’s accountability and informs efforts to improve healthcare. Our vision is that BHI is the trusted provider of healthcare performance information, that our information is used to inform decisions, and that this information supports continued improvement to patients’ experiences and outcomes of care in NSW.

What you'll be doing – Director, Performance Reports


This Director position manages a team undertaking data analysis and reporting to support the development of BHI reports. The Director Performance Reports will provide leadership, direction and management to a team that will define the content of reports, oversee analysis and interpretation of data, write content in appropriate formats for publication and oversee preparation of reporting products. The Director will be an active member of BHI's leadership team, will guide the development of the reporting work plan and contribute to appropriate positioning of BHI as a respected and trusted provider of information.

Employment Type: Full Time - Exempt (Up to January 2026)
Position Classification: Health Manager Level 5
Remuneration: $166,678.00 - $186,448.00 per annum, plus superannuation

Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated expertise in developing and validating measures of health system performance, including measures of patient experience.
  2. Demonstrated expertise in health system performance reporting that is objective, timely actionable, accurate and meaningful.
  3. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, negotiation, consultation and presentation skills, and ability to operate in a close-knit team.
  4. Strong leadership capacity with significant experience building, motivating and engaging a team, managing resources and developing and monitoring employee performance.
  5. Working knowledge of applicable laws and ethical practices necessary to ensure the integrity of reports and protection of privacy and personal information.
  6. Ability to successfully function and deliver against multiple and competing tight deadlines in a fast paced, demanding environment, including across teams with different expertise.
  7. Clinical experience or previous relevant experience working with clinicians is desirable.
  8. Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent relevant experience.
