Director of Pharmacy, St George Hospital

NOTE: To be considered for this position you must be an employee of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District and its Affiliated Health Organisations.

An opportunity exists to gain experience in senior pharmacy leadership as the Director of Pharmacy, St George Hospital. This is a temporary full-time position until the end of August 2025, with the possibility of extension depending on future circumstances.

What you'll be doing
The Director of Pharmacy will provide operational direction, lead, guide and manage Pharmacy services across the St George Hospital and implement high levels of clinical expertise in order to provide high quality care to patients/clients and their carers consistent with NSW Health and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures, industrial requirements and standards. The Director of Pharmacy will also contribute to the strategic direction of SESLHD Pharmacy Services.

Selection Criteria 

  1. Recognised qualification in Pharmacy, current registration with AHPRA with no restrictions on scope of practice and commitment to own ongoing professional development.
  2. Demonstrated operational management experience within a complex health care environment.
  3. Proven ability to provide leadership, strategic direction and apply strategic processes in the management of departmental resources and services.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of professional and clinical issues relating to Hospital Pharmacy services with expert professional knowledge of methods, principles, practice and skills across client groups and work areas.
  5. Demonstrated high-level written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  6. Demonstrated experience with drug and therapeutics committees, medication safety initiatives, quality use of medicines and risk management strategies.
  7. Demonstrated experience in quality improvement processes and the application of evidence based practice within Pharmacy services.
  8. Ability to provide high level advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence.
