This is a term, 12 months full-time opportunity available:

  • Impactful senior executive role which will shape contemporary legal, governance and risk strategy

This role is located in Sydney CBD, close to public transport


About this role 

The Director Legal, Governance and Risk is a key member of the HPCA executive leadership team, contributing to the strategic direction, business planning and executive decision-making processes. The Director Legal, Governance and Risk is responsible for ensuring that Professional Councils, the HPCA Executive Team and managers are provided with expert legal advice and support services, and the highest levels of confidence in the integrity of frameworks, systems and practices which operate across HPCA. This role leads a direct team of 7 and an indirect team of 16. 

This is a 12-month term opportunity, full time, Band 1 Health Service Senior Executive (HSSE) role. An attractive remuneration package within the range of $211,222 to $235,325 per annum (SOORT 2024), will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applying for this Role

You are encouraged to submit a one page covering letter, including a short statement in response to the two targeted questions below:

  1. Describe a recent example in which you led and delivered significant transformation across a large, complex, legal, governance and risk system or directorate, explaining how you managed the various stakeholders involved. What elements of your communication and management style helped you achieve this?
  2. Describe your experience and approach to developing capability and establishing cohesion within a multidisciplinary team to drive strategic priorities or manage risk or improve quality and deliver customer focused services, while also creating a positive and collaborative culture.



About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Legal qualifications including admission as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of NSW and an unrestricted practising certificate from the NSW Law Society are desirable, OR a demonstrated capability and substantial experience in provision of leadership and management to a relevant professional team.
  • A track record of legal, governance and risk leadership gained from a sophisticated, multi-stakeholder setting. This may be from a range of sectors including regulatory, compliance, health, government, professional associations, the private sector or adjacent
  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills and the capacity to operate within a highly complex environment
  • Experience leading transformative change across an organisation
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability to influence and engage at all levels.
