Where you'll be working


Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) provides primary and secondary health care for Auburn, Blacktown, The Hills Shire, Cumberland, and Parramatta LGAs, and tertiary care to Greater Western Region residents. We aim for 'better health services for the people of western Sydney and beyond' with core values of collaboration, openness, respect, and empowerment.

  • Westmead Centre for Oral Health offers general dental services to eligible residents in WSLHD.
  • It provides state-wide specialist oral health services for NSW.
  • One of two teaching facilities for the University of Sydney's Faculty of Dentistry.
  • Equipped with advanced patient care facilities and operating suites.
  • Offers General Practice for overall oral health and Emergency Dentistry for acute dental issues. 

What you'll be doing 


As a Dental Officer you will be delivering quality oral health care across Western Sydney Local Health District, manage patient treatments, engage in health promotion and contribute to professional development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing comprehensive oral health care, including examinations, treatment planning, and patient consent.
  • Collaborating with senior clinicians and refer patients to specialists as needed.
  • Engaging in oral health promotion and educate patients on maintaining good oral health.
  • Maintaining detailed patient records and adhere to infection control policies.
  • Participating in professional development, after-hours on-call service, and potential rural rotations.

Essential Criteria:

  • Registration: Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as a Dentist. 

Selection Criteria:

  1. Provide specific examples of how you have demonstrated sound clinical and diagnostic skills in your current/previous roles.
  2. Provide an example of how you have effectively communicated with a diverse range of individuals in a clinical setting. How did your communication skills contribute to the outcome of the situation.
  3. Provide a specific example of when you have had to work in a large team. What were the advantages and disadvantages of this and how did you deal with the difficulties.
