An exciting opportunity has become available for a Data and Analytics Lead to join the team at NBMLHD on a permanent full time basis.
The NBMLHD Reporting team sits within the NBMLHD Information Management and Analytics (IM&A) Unit. This team supports the district by developing high quality Power BI reports and maintaining legacy reports that provide insights on performance on KPIs and targets. The team also analysis activity data to assist with decision making related to service improvements and models of care.
In your role as the Data and Analytics Lead you will be responsible for both guiding a team of report analysts and actively engaging in the practical aspects of data analysis. This position combines leadership with hands-on technical work, ensuring the delivery of high-quality reports that meet best practice standards in development and testing. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in data analytics, mentor team members, and contribute directly to report development.

What you will bring to the role
- Qualification - Tertiary qualifications in data science, analytics, ICT or similar, or equivalent demonstrated experience, sufficient to provide a deep and nuanced understanding of the best practice in analytics, reporting, business intelligence or data science.
- Analytics expertise - Demonstrated experience in deriving valuable insights from data in a clinical, healthcare setting, including analysing data to understand and improve performance of services. While healthcare experience is preferred, we encourage you to apply if you have demonstrated experience in data analytics in any industry.
- Leadership - Experience in leading and managing a team of data professionals, and expertise in embedding standardised, consistent and robust processes for data analysis (e.g. good development and testing standards). Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive multiple analytics/ reporting projects to successful completion.
- Technical Skills - Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages – SQL and Power BI are mandatory, SSIS is essential. Experience with Snowflake, Python, R, Tableau, Plotly Dash are well regarded.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders and present findings effectively and seek feedback to build user friendly reports.
- Stakeholder management - Demonstrated experience of working collaboratively across departments and organisations to gather requirements, showcase work in progress deliverables, gather feedback to build reports that meet user requirements.
