About the Role:
Looking for a fast-paced, purpose-driven admin role? Our Outpatients Contact Centre at John Hunter Hospital is the front line for patient access and support — and we're looking for confident, capable communicators to join our Phones team.

In this role, you’ll take patient calls, manage appointment bookings (including post-op and ward discharge), liaise with GPs, and coordinate with clinical staff to make sure patients receive timely and appropriate care.

This is not just answering phones — it’s being part of a vital link in the patient care chain.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Handling inbound patient calls related to appointments across John Hunter and the broader HNELHD
  • Booking, rescheduling and confirming appointments
  • Liaising with GPs and clinical coordinators to coordinate patient care
  • Ensuring accurate data entry and seamless communication between services
  • We currently have four permanent part-time roles available (Monday–Friday shifts, 8:00am–4:30pm), with days negotiable. We're also building a casual pool from this round of recruitment.

About You:

  • You’re the calm in the chaos — flexible, responsive, and razor-sharp with your communication. You bring:
  • Outstanding customer service skills with a patient-first mindset
  • Adaptability to handle shifting priorities and unexpected challenges
  • Proficiency in admin systems and confident computer skills
  • Strong time management and a team-first attitude
  • If you can stay cool under pressure and thrive in a collaborative, high-demand contact centre environment — we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Get:

  • A structured training plan to get you up to speed
  • Access to a wide range of online learning and professional development resources
  • A supportive, high-performing team culture that values collaboration, reliability and a bit of good humour

Why Join Us?

At the John Hunter Outpatients Contact Centre, we don’t just book appointments — we make care happen.

You’ll be part of a tight-knit team that’s committed, professional, and not afraid to laugh along the way.

We support each other, we back each other, and we take pride in the work we do.
