Where you'll be working

Population and Community Health (PaCH) is part of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.

PaCH provides community health services that give care to individuals, families and carers, as well as population health services that focus on the whole community or key groups within the community. In particular, this service provides care to priority population including people experiencing homelessness, and with dug and alcohol and/or mental health issues.
 
This position will be provided at Mission Australia in Surry Hills where the Special Needs Dental Service is provided. This position may also work across other dental clinics in SESLHD and with other service providers across South Eastern Sydney Local Health District, including hospitals and mental health services.

The Role

The primary purpose of this position is to provide coordination, administration and promotion of the Special Needs Dental Service to ensure access to specialised dental services and welfare interventions for eligible clients from disadvantaged backgrounds and with complex needs. The position also includes client intake, referrals and appointment coordination responsibilities, general office duties and education/promotion with community agencies/services and client groups.

Selection Criteria

  1. Approved tertiary qualifications relevant to the field (e.g. diploma in welfare work, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer), or relevant employment experience or a combination of study and work experience.
  2. Demonstrated experience working with people experiencing homelessness and/or clients of drug & alcohol or mental health facilities with a proven ability to understand their complex needs.
  3. Demonstrated experience in effective liaison with relevant stakeholders e.g. services/agencies/institutions.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimum supervision, to organise work priorities and manage time effectively.
  5. Demonstrated computer literacy in Microsoft applications or willingness to learn and use software packages.
  6. Proven interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels with internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Commitment to ongoing professional development, quality improvement and WH&S responsibilities.
