About the role:
Join the Greater Newcastle Mental Health Service, a welcoming and supportive community-based service dedicated to collaborative acute and rehabilitation mental health care. We deliver highly individualised services across:
  • Centre-based care, home visits, virtual and telehealth services, and group work
  • Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, and Port Stephens – close to stunning beaches, public transport, and shopping hubs
  • A dynamic team that values clinical supervision, training, quality improvement, and staff wellbeing initiatives
  • We also work closely with the Mater Inpatient Mental Health Centre, Centre for Psychotherapy, and Psychiatric Rehabilitation services, offering extended professional networks and collaborative care models.


About the role:
As a Clinical Psychologist with Greater Newcastle Mental Health Service, you will deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals living with mental illness, while also supporting their families and carers. Your role will involve comprehensive assessment, formulation, and intervention, tailored to the unique needs of each person.

You’ll work closely within a multidisciplinary team - alongside medical, nursing, and allied health professionals - participating in weekly clinical reviews, case conferences, and joint consultations to ensure cohesive and holistic care. Daily team check-ins and psychology huddles will provide opportunities for collaboration, peer support, and shared learning. Under the guidance of the Senior Psychologist, Clinical Coordinator, and Psychology Head of Discipline, you'll also have access to structured supervision and development pathways. This role encourages flexibility in therapeutic approaches, innovation in service delivery, and ongoing professional growth.

About you:
We’re seeking a passionate and skilled Clinical Psychologist who thrives in a recovery-focused environment and takes a holistic approach to care. You’ll bring strong clinical and time management skills, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements:

  • Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent, displayed on the AHPRA website.
  • Provisional Psychologists enrolled in an APAC-accredited Master of Clinical Psychology Course will be considered (Clinical Psychologists in Training). For Clinical Psychologists in Training, please note that you are required to nominate your placement coordinator as a referee.
