The Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District Drug and Alcohol Service offers free, non-judgemental services and treatments for drug and/or alcohol use, including information and support for families. Our service offers specialist drug and alcohol doctors, nurses and allied health staff who respect the client's right to choose from a range of treatments offered with our services underpinned by a philosophy of harm reduction.
What you’ll be doing:
Using innovative, evidence-based skills and interventions, you will professionally support individuals seeking assistance with alcohol and drug use. You will take a trauma-informed approach and provide respectful, person-centred care, tailored to each individual’s needs. Central to your role will be employing an individualised, holistic approach to care, incorporating comprehensive care planning to address the diverse physical, emotional, and social aspects of each person’s journey.
An exciting Temporary Part Time position has become available within the Safe Assessment Unit (SAU) as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. This role will focus on delivering evidence-based clinical interventions within best practice models of care to achieve good clinical outcomes for consumers, their families and carers.
The successful incumbent will provide high level clinical knowledge and expertise and skills and work as part of a team. You will provide specific and complex mental health and drug and alcohol assessments, nursing treatments and referral in accordance with relevant mental health guidelines and best practice standards.
A nursing role in the alcohol and other drugs sector offers mentally stimulating work and provides a high level of autonomy and empowerment. You’ll work within a collaborative team that enables a culture of support.
Your contribution as a healthcare professional will have a meaningful and positive impact, which is felt at a community level.
Criteria:
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
1. Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
