Where you'll be working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 Tertiary Referral Hospital with an inpatient bed base of 370. Each year we care for more than 70,000 patients in our Emergency Department and have around 50,000 admissions to the inpatient units. POWH offers an outpatient service and rural outreach service and provides more than 900,000 occasions of non-admitted patient care each year, including innovative virtual models of care. We have transitioned the majority of inpatient units and wards to the Acute Services Building (ASB) including a state of the art Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. POWH provides an exceptional staff experience and enhanced patient and family outcomes as a result of the provision of person-centred care.

The CNE provides coordination, delivery and evaluation of clinical nurse education (including programs) at the ward/unit level. Such education may include orientation and/or transitioning for new nursing staff, undergraduate and casual nurses as well as meeting the ongoing educational needs of existing nursing staff.  Provides clinical supervision at the point of care within everyday clinical practice, in line with the ANMC Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.

Clinical supervision at the point of care is the role and responsibility of each Registered Nurse and Enrolled Nurse within everyday clinical practice, in line with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council Decision Making Frameworks for Nurses and Midwives.
  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
  2. Holds a relevant clinical or education post registration qualification and clinical experience deemed appropriate by the employer
  3. Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  4. Understanding of teaching and learning in the health care environment (adult learning principles)
  5. Demonstrated clinical teaching & facilitation skills
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of competency attainment and assessment
  7. Computer literacy and understanding of hospital information systems
