Are you an engaging, experienced and motivated Mental Health Clinical Nurse Consultant who enjoys working with young people? Come join us and take up this brand new opportunity as a Clinical Nurse Consultant and work in an enthusiastic and innovative Youth Mental Health Team at Bondi helping young mental health consumers navigate their way through their recovery journey.


The Early Psychosis Programme is a multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health Team providing specialist treatment to young people (14-25yrs) who are at risk of, or are experiencing, First Episode Psychosis. The Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 1 (CNC) will be responsible for planning, co-ordinating and delivering specialist assessment and treatment to young consumers suspected of experiencing, or experiencing, first episode psychosis. This will include acting as key worker to a caseload of young consumers and their families, providing individualised care consistent with the principles of the Australian Guidelines for Early Psychosis. This will involve liaison and working in partnership with families, NGO’s, mental inpatient facilities, private practitioners and general practitioners, schools and universities.

  1. Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and a minimum of 5 years post-registration experience in a mental health specialty, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
  2. Demonstrated experience working with young people experiencing a first episode psychosis, and familiarity with contemporary Youth Mental Health service delivery models, including crisis intervention and family interventions.
  3. Demonstrated high level clinical skills in mental health assessment, treatment planning and treatment delivery, including in providing complex care requiring autonomous clinical decision making.
  4. Demonstrated effective leadership skills including developed skills in communication, problem solving and decision-making skills in relation to managing responsibilities
  5. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and evidence-based practice and a commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning.
  6. Commitment to consumer consultation and participation in service planning and delivery, policy development and implementation, priority setting and service evaluation and quality activities.
  7. Current NSW Drivers licence (and a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position)
