An exciting temporary part-time opportunity exists for an experienced mental health clinician and leader to work in the role of Clinical Manager for the St George Acute Care Team (ACT). Supported by the Community Service Manager, the Clinical Manager will lead the ACT and Police and Ambulance Clinical Emergency Response (PACER) team to provide short-term mental health interventions to people experiencing acute episodes of mental health distress or illness.

The Clinical Manager will provide leadership, guidance, supervision and line management of the multidisciplinary community mental health team.  The role requires a high degree of both clinical and professional judgement to navigate critical challenges with minimal direction.

Selection Criteria: 

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the below questions as thoroughly as possible.

  1. Social Worker eligible for membership of AASW or Occupational Therapist with current registration with AHPRA. Psychologist registered with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA), and completion of 12 months at the 9th year of service and thereafter point on the salary scale for Psychologists. For Clinical Psychologists, full Registration with the PsyBA, with endorsement in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology, and a minimum two-year full-time accredited Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology or Neuropsychology. Registered Nurse with current registration with AHPRA and meets the requirement for NUM 2 grading under the NSW Public Health System Nurses' and Midwives' State Award.
  2. Evidence of extensive clinical experience in mental health including the assessment, treatment and management of persons with a mental illness in a community setting.
  3. Demonstrated leadership and management skills including the ability to manage performance, lead change, and provide high level guidance and advice on service matters.
  4. Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  5. Understanding of, and commitment to the principles and practices of consumer and family participation within a recovery framework
  6. Understanding of and commitment to quality improvement processes and the application of evidence based practice within mental health.
  7. Current NSW Driver's Licence and a willingness to travel to meet job requirements.
  8. Understanding of clinical and professional support requirements for multidisciplinary team members and commitment to supporting team access to same.
