Nepean Hospital is a teaching hospital that provides tertiary referral services in emergency care, coronary care, diagnostics, gynaecology, paediatric, neonatal intensive care/ICU, maternity, mental health, rehabilitation, and surgery. The Nepean Campus has recently experienced tremendous growth and aims to support communities within and outside of Sydney’s western suburbs, providing world-class clinical facilities, services, and care.

  
An opportunity has become available for qualified Clinical Psychologist, Snr Clinical Psychologist to join the Nepean Hospital team on a temporary basis.


The Lifespan Clinics are a suite of outpatient clinics developed to ensure all patients who use methamphetamine are offered an opportunity for assessment, screening and diagnosis for known sequelae and complications of methamphetamine use. Targeted interventions are developed and implemented based on individual need, consistent with the principles of harm minimization and longitudinal follow up.  Building around individuals, the clinics bring in the expertise of specialists who understand the health manifestations of methamphetamine on body systems associated with their scope of practice.
Clinicians work synergistically with Addiction Medicine specialists and highly skilled drug and alcohol clinicians to realise patient centred and fully integrated care.
 
Your role as the successful candidate will provide high quality, patient focused, evidence-based psychological assessment, neuropsychological assessment, diagnosis, treatment and clinical management of drug and alcohol addiction and psychological conditions for people presenting to newly established clinics. This includes the provision of specialised assessment and interventions to the Neurodiversity and ADHD clinics of the program.
You will support the evaluation of high-quality, evidence-informed psychological services within the clinics, this includes participating in the evaluation of clinical outcomes of services, assist in the development and provision of education and training programs and to provide supervision to other psychologists.   



This position is open to fully registered and endorsed Clinical, Forensic and Clinical neuropsychologists.

What you will bring to the role:

  1. Must hold a post graduate degree in clinical, forensic, or clinical neuropsychology (Masters, and/or Doctorate or PhD) and full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and practice endorsement (or working towards) in Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in psychological assessment, case formulation and intervention for adults and adolescents with a severe mental illness, drug and alcohol concerns, and/or neurodivergent disorders.
  3. Demonstrated understanding of the relevant scientific literature on psychological services for adults and adolescents with a severe mental illness, drug and alcohol concerns, and/or neurodivergent disorders.
  4. Skills in conducting research/quality projects including data analysis and program evaluation.
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and the provision of clinical correspondence.
  6. An ability to liaise with a range of relevant agencies and departments both internal and external to health.
  7. Demonstrated high level organisational, prioritisation and time management skills in an environment of competing clinical demands.
  8. Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel
