Kempsey
Set on the banks of the mighty Macleay River, Kempsey was originally established as a timber and dairy hub and retains many of its historic buildings as a vestige of its past. Home to two great Australian icons – country music legend Slim Dusty, and the Akubra hat, which has been made in the town for the past 50 years – Kempsey is surrounded by national parks and just a short drive from the beautiful beaches of the Macleay Valley Coast.

What you'll be doing
To accurately translate the type and acuity of patient services by the accurate and timely coding of inpatient episodes of care

MNLCHD is committed to implementing the child safe standards, particularly to ensure people working with children are suitable and supported in the workplace.

  1. Relevant formal qualifications and demonstrated competencies for Clinical Coder as specified in the HIMAA Clinical Coder National Competency Standards and Assessment Guide including medical terminology, anatomy and physiology
  2. Demonstrated clinical coding knowledge, application of Australian Standards and experience using the current edition of the International Classification of Diseases Australian Modification -- with demonstrated coding accuracy and productivity rate
  3. Demonstrated experience using a Patient Administration System (eg. Cerner/iPM) and 3M Codefinder software and other coding resource materials
  4. Minimum of 12 months working experience as a Clinical Coder together with a sound understanding of DRG's and Activity Based Funding
  5. Proven organisational, communication and problem-solving skills with experience in communicating with clinicians on clinical coding matters
  6. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, meet deadlines, establish priorities and display excellent interpersonal skills as an effective member of a team
