What you'll be doing

Provide community based assessment, intervention, counselling and therapeutic support of children and young people aged up to 18 years with mental health problems in the Lower Fast West Regional area, with the base location being Buronga.

How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible

  • Must hold a qualification in one of the following: Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, Counsellor (Degree in Bachelor of Health Science Mental health, Djirruwang Program) and eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association general registration through AHPRA or AASW
  • Extensive experience in mental health assessment, management and provision of therapeutic interventions including group work with consumers, their families / supports in a community setting.
  • Evidence of ability to build and maintain cooperative professional and therapeutic relationships with consumers, their parents /guardians and key stakeholders through the application of well-developed interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a sole practitioner and as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering mental health services to children and young people, families and carers.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of trauma informed care and its application to therapeutic interventions with children/young people and their parents/guardian and family.
  • Current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires, this may involve driving long distances
