About the role

As a Security Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment across our hospital campus for staff, patients, and visitors. Your responsibilities will include responding promptly to emergencies such as Code Blacks, fire and duress alarms, conducting duress testing, and performing internal and external patrols of buildings and grounds.

In addition to your core security duties, you may assist clinical staff with patient care in line with established security policies and procedures. You'll be expected to identify and report unauthorised individuals, respond to unusual incidents or alarms, and minimise property loss or damage through vigilant monitoring and reporting.



Location and Support

Our successful candidate will be based at a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in Metford, where we deliver 24/7 security services.

Maitland Hospital is conveniently located just 15 minutes from the Hunter Expressway, 25 minutes from John Hunter Hospital and central Newcastle, and is easily accessible via the New England Highway, major link roads, public transport routes, and a nearby train station.

You will work closely with an experienced security team, working in teams of two, and be supported by the Security Manager through ongoing training and orientation. Professional development and further education are highly encouraged and supported. This role requires a proactive and responsive approach to ensure the safety and well-being of all staff, patients, and visitors within the hospital environment.


About You:

We are seeking a dedicated and professional individual who:

  • Has proven experience working as a Security Officer
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and show initiative when required
  • Communicates effectively, maintains confidentiality, and approaches all situations with compassion and professionalism
  • Is reliable, adaptable, and available to work across a 24/7 rotating roster

  • To be eligible for employment in this position you must be an Australian Citizen, or permanent resident of Australia, or a New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand Passport, or hold an appropriate visa that allows you to live and work in Australia.
