What You'll be doing 
 
Provide clinical management and treatment of patients in a SWSLHD facility under your care or for whom we are consulting. This care will be provided within the clinical privileges granted by the CE on the advice of the SWSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee.
 


Where You'll Be Working

Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

1. Collaborating closely with the Director of Medical Services at Liverpool Hospital, engage in the recruitment of both senior and junior medical staff. This includes activities such as credentialing, determining the scope of clinical practice, conducting annual performance reviews, and providing ongoing support to all medical staff levels. 
 
2. Undertaking specific Medical Services duties, including incident investigation, managing complaints, managing coronial and medico-legal matters, preparing for National Standards Assessment, and addressing matters related to clinical governance, quality of care, and patient safety. 
 
3. Maintain a high standard of documentation for administrative and management actions, encompassing the completion of reports and correspondence. Ensure that relevant databases are kept up-to-date. 
 
4. Demonstrate a commitment to the education, training, and career development of medical officers. This includes supporting the professional development culture for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) and overseeing the delivery and evaluation of a high-quality structured education and orientation program for IMGs. Actively participate in education and teaching activities at the Western Sydney University Clinical School. 
 
5. Work in collaboration with the Clinical Information Department (CID) as the medical clinical liaison, to contribute towards diagnosis, education and advice. 
 
6. Engage in or lead any hospital projects or activities as directed by the Director of Medical Services and General Manager. 
 
7. Foster a workplace culture that emphasises respect for individuals, teamwork, and continuous performance improvement. Uphold a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, harassment, discrimination, or any actions undermining the professional standing of colleagues. Promote the wellbeing of medical officers. 
 
8. Adhere to policies and procedures set forth by the NSW Ministry of Health Department, South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD), and the hospital, including strict compliance with the Code of Conduct.
