Maitland Hospital Emergency Department is looking for passionate individuals with a commitment to ongoing training and education beyond the ACEM (Australasian College for Emergency Medicine) framework.

About the Role:
Our position is structured to include educational and procedural requirements, tailored to your prior experience. You will have one non-clinical shift out of eight, allowing you to focus on training activities such as attending courses, enhancing airway skills in theatres, conducting audits, or participating in planned teaching sessions. We encourage and support CMOs to enrol in and complete the ACEM Emergency Medicine Certificate program within their first year.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified medical practitioner registered with current full general registration in Australia with at least three years post-graduate experience.
- Appropriate training and experience to work towards a leadership role in the ED, which will include being in charge of night shifts, whilst working with direct support from Consultant FACEMS staff on other shifts.
- Ability to provide guidance to junior medical and nursing staff across all elements of the Emergency Department.

- Flexible Scheduling: Participate in a 24/7 roster with 10-hour clinical shifts. After five years, the night shift component is removed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Care: Provide patient care under the direction of supervising consultants.
- Continuity of Care: Improve clinical care processes, service coordination, patient handover, and discharge planning.
- Leadership: Coordinate patient care by facilitating communication between specialties, administrative, and community services.
- Team Support: Contribute to team building, mentoring, and training within the multidisciplinary team.
- Communication: Provide clinical advice and encourage effective communication for coordinated patient care.
