Sydney-Based Executive Opportunity – Broad Scope, Deep Impact
As Associate Director, Staff Health, you will lead the development and implementation of proactive, preventative, and trauma-informed mental health and wellbeing strategies across NSW Ambulance. Reporting to the Executive Director, People & Culture, and working in partnership with clinical and operational leaders, you will provide expert strategic advice, shape culture, and lead multidisciplinary programs including peer support, family outreach, fitness, chaplaincy, and psychological services.
Your work will directly influence frontline support systems and ensure the organisation is equipped to manage critical risks, improve workforce resilience, and create long-lasting health outcomes for staff and their families.
Strategic Leadership with Cultural and System Impact
This role is central to how NSW Ambulance supports its people—especially in high-risk, high-pressure environments. You will be responsible for designing and delivering frameworks that enable early identification and response to staff at risk, developing performance indicators aligned with NSW Health and government KPIs, and embedding psychological safety as a core organisational principle.
You will lead a team of experienced health professionals and manage a high-visibility portfolio that includes injury prevention, mental health intervention, and strategic workforce wellbeing programs.
Your Expertise and Leadership Profile
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Senior leadership experience in health, wellbeing, or people strategy within a large and complex organisation
- Deep subject matter expertise in workforce mental health, psychological safety, and organisational wellbeing
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex, high-trust portfolios
- Strategic insight and operational capability to influence systems, culture, and executive decision-making
- Strong stakeholder management skills across clinical, operational, and government environments
- High-level communication and policy development skills, including executive briefings and ministerial reporting
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, psychology, organisational development, or a related field.
