Exciting opportunity to join our team – delivering excellence in patient care - we are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Administrative Officer to join our Perioperative Service at John Hunter Hospital



Remuneration:
$32.30 - $33.37 per hour + Superannuation + Salary Packaging
Location: Awabakal Country | John Hunter Hospital, New Lambton

John Hunter Hospital, is a leading tertiary referral, teaching, and community hospital. 


What you will be doing:
This role offers the chance to contribute to exceptional patient care by providing vital administrative support within our Pre-Operative Clinic. As an integral part of our Pre-Operative Clinic, you will support surgical patients and clinical staff, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of care.
You will work closely with this multidisciplinary healthcare team, helping to coordinate patient care and maintain a well-organised clinic. 


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing enquiries and answering incoming calls
  • Accurately transferring messages and information to support patients and staff
  • Preparing paperwork for clinics and surgical procedures
  • Assisting with scanning and file management
  • Supporting both the front desk reception and back-office administrative tasks


This role will cover the following set shifts:  Monday and Tuesday 8.30am till 5pm and Friday 7.30am until 4pm. 
A job-share arrangement may be considered and discussed during the interview process.


We’re seeking a candidate who is:

  • Adaptable and proactive, with the ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced setting
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Tech-savvy, with proficiency in electronic systems and computer software
  • A strong communicator, capable of interacting effectively with patients, families, and clinical staff
  • While experience with medical terminology is preferred, it is not essential and can be learned on the job.


Training and Support
The successful applicant will receive comprehensive support through an induction and training program, which includes both face-to-face and online training, along with mentorship to facilitate a smooth transition into the role. We ideally, we aim to roster an initial two-week training period.
