About the role

The primary purpose of this role is to provide high-level support to the Associate Director, Finance and Performance and the Senior Accountant with primary responsibility for managing financial accounting, statutory reporting, audit & risk systems and internal processes. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to be part of newly established finance function providing high quality financial services to the NSW Health Pillar agencies.

 

The position is classified as a Health Manager level 2, with a starting salary from $109,857 - $129,624 plus Super, with a 38 hour work week.

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Manage end of month and end of financial year accounting; risk and auditing processes; financial reporting; and governance compliance; and ensuring they are completed in a timely manner
  • Prepare financial and performance reports to the Audit and Risk Management Committee (ARMC)
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners such as HealthShare and other Health Entities to manage and resolve any issues related to statutory reporting, processing and invoicing in a timely and effective manner, and to identify opportunities for improved service delivery
  • Provide formal and ad hoc support and advice to pillar agencies and the team for budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis related activities
  • Provide advice as required, regarding Ministry of Health Accounting/Finance/Assets/General policies and procedures

 

About you

 

We are seeking motivated and committed individuals who can support the work of NSW Health with: 

 

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent, and extensive experience in accounting or finance and/or membership of relevant professional accounting body
  • Strong knowledge and practical understanding of existing or new accounting standards that are applicable to NSW health entities
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including experience in building and maintaining relationships and liaising and influencing a broad range of staff and stakeholders to ensure adoption of new processes and compliance with policies
