About the Role

Sydney Dental Hospital (SDH) has been serving the local community since 1904. The Hospital is a centre of excellence and throughout its history has been a key driver in shaping oral health and dental care in Australia.

This is a yearly traineeship and is a targeted role. The 2025 Aboriginal Traineeship in Dental Assisting is in conjunction with NSW TAFE and the University of Sydney. The trainees work at SDH full-time with one day per week of TAFE classes and four study blocks in the year. Successful candidates may be eligible for a scholarship to study a Bachelor of Oral Health at University of Sydney at the completion of the course. The role of this position is to provide assistance to the Clinician and to undertake and complete HLT31807 Certificate III in Dental Assisting

Ideal Candidate

  • This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1977.
  • Ability to undertake and complete HLT31807 for Certificate III in Dental Assisting
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills
