Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Peer Worker/Trainee

- To be a person of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent. Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 14(d) of the Anti-discrimination Act 1977.
- Lived experience of social and emotional wellbeing challenges and the ability and willingness to draw on your own personal recovery experience to support others individually and/or in groups in a safe and effective way.
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or willingness and commitment to complete Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, or Djirruwang program, as negotiated with the manager.
- Understanding of the challenges that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers may experience in accessing mental health and/or drug and alcohol services and person-led social and emotional recovery principles.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships with a range of key stakeholders including team members, consumers, families and carers, GPs, community managed organisations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team and actively contribute to clinical care planning processes in a team setting.
- Current NSW drivers licence.
