Strong culture. Strong community. Strong future:
Welcome to Tamworth - on beautiful Gomeroi/Kamilaroi country - where red earth meets green hills, and a strong sense of culture and community creates the perfect place to call home. Whether you’re returning to your roots or starting a new chapter, Tamworth offers the best of both worlds: peaceful country living with the energy of a growing regional centre. Here, you can build meaningful connections, celebrate Aboriginal identity, and truly make a difference.

Where you'll be working:
Join our dedicated Aboriginal Health team based at Tamworth Hospital and working across the New England North West region. You'll be part of a multidisciplinary network of Aboriginal Health Workers, Practitioners, and Nurses — united in delivering culturally safe, community-led care that puts culture at the heart of healing.

Our Care Coordination program supports Aboriginal people to navigate the health system with dignity and confidence — ensuring their needs are met holistically, respectfully, and with cultural integrity.

About you:
We’re looking for an Aboriginal Health Practitioner who brings both heart and skill — someone deeply connected to culture and community, and passionate about creating positive health outcomes.

You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
  • A deep understanding of cultural safety and Aboriginal ways of knowing, being, and doing.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to yarn, connect, and advocate across clinical and community spaces.
  • Solid clinical knowledge and a holistic, strengths-based approach to care.
  • Confidence to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
  • A genuine passion for community, cultural healing, and lifelong learning.
  • A Certificate IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) and current registration with AHPRA as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner.
  • A current NSW driver’s licence and a willingness to travel when needed.

Be the connection between culture and care.

How you'll be supported:
We know how vital your role is — and we’ll walk alongside you every step of the way. When you join us, you’ll be welcomed into a culturally safe, inclusive team that respects and uplifts your identity and lived experience.

What you can expect:

  • Mentoring and guidance from experienced Aboriginal Health professionals.
  • A space for regular yarning, reflection, and peer support.
  • Clinical supervision and cultural care to keep you safe, strong, and supported.
  • Ongoing opportunities for training, growth, and professional development.

Come for the lifestyle. Stay for the connection.
