Where You'll Be Working:
The Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer will be based at the Royal Hospital for Women within the Social Work Team. The position will be linked into a wider Aboriginal Health Workforce, and will be supported by the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District Aboriginal Health Directorate. The main areas of specialisation at the Royal Hospital for Women include breast care, gynaecology, gynaecological oncology, maternity, maternal fetal medicine, menopause, newborn intensive care and reproductive medicine.
What You'll Be Doing:
This position is Temporary Part Time working two days per week, days and hours can be flexible.

Selection Criteria:
- Being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent is a genuine occupational qualification for this position under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
- It is a genuine occupational requirement that this position is occupied by a female. An applicant’s gender is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under Section 31 of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
- Holds or aspires to hold a minimum Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a minimum Certificate III health qualification in the area in which the Aboriginal Health Worker works.
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture, historical contexts which may influence health, and relevant Aboriginal health and other national and state policies/strategies.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities, and network with other services and health professionals.
- Knowledge of: confidentiality, documentation and information management; relevant legislation; ethics and duty of care; and mandatory reporting requirements in an Aboriginal primary health care environment.
- Competent computer skills utilising varied and appropriate software programs (e.g. word processing, data management systems and spreadsheets).
- Knowledge of quality improvement and experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of health promotion and health education programs.
