War Memorial Hospital (WMH) is a 3rd Schedule Aged Rehabilitation hospital, situated in Waverley, owned and operated by Uniting and part of the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD). Services are comprised of 24-hour inpatient care, Monday to Friday outpatient departments, iREAP Day Rehabilitation program, several specialist community teams inclusive of Transitional Aged Care, Geriatric Flying Squad, Young Onset Dementia, and day centre program, 24-hour accommodation service for regional guests and the full range of hospital support services. It is set within beautiful tranquil grounds and is a well-supported team environment.

An excellent opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Dietitian to provide clinical nutrition and dietetic services and education for designated patients of War Memorial Hospital (WMH), consistent with Uniting, NSW Health and South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) policies, procedures and standards. This is a predominantly inpatient position, with provision to outpatient, community (including Geriatric Flying Squad) and day rehabilitation (iREAP) patients as required. This involves the assessment, treatment and evaluation of clients, as well as participation in case conferences, team quality projects and professional development activities. 

 

This position is Fixed Term Part Time

Selection Criteria: 

 

  1. Must hold a bachelor or post graduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics that provides eligibility for full membership of the Dietitians Association of Australia, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer
  2. Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a clinical dietitian and a good level of knowledge, expertise and skill working in a range of clinical areas including aged care Dietetics
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively autonomously with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  4. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to proactively engage with patients/clients to enhance service delivery
  5. Experience undertaking and completing quality improvement projects and evaluation of nutrition resources
  6. A commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning within the field of nutrition and dietetics and more specifically aged care dietetics
  7. Computer skills and the capacity to use health information systems, such as eMR and Microsoft office
  8. Current NSW Driver’s License Class C

 

All Category A NSW Health workers are required to have received an annual seasonal Influenza vaccination or have an approved medical contraindication certificate. COVID-19 vaccinations are strongly recommended for all NSW Health workers.
