Position Classification & Remuneration Dependent on Qualifications:
Snr Psychologist: $119,206.00 – $129,171.00 per annum

Social Worker, Counsellor or Occupational Therapist Level 3: $112,396.00 - $116,038.00 per annum
Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2: $113,243.15 - $116,963.48 per annum

The Child, Youth and Family Mental Health (CYF-MH) provides services to children, young people, and their families in the Nepean and Blue Mountains community where mental health issues are seriously impacting on their emotional wellbeing, relationships, and day to day functioning. CYF-MH offers mental health assessment, psychoeducation, clinical support, and specialist intervention services. CYF-MH is committed to working in partnership with families and the systems around them to provide person centred, trauma informed and recovery orientated care.

We have an exciting permanent full-time opportunity for a dedicated Mental Health Clinician to join the Whole Family Mental Health Team.

The Mental Health Clinician will, within their professional scope of practice, provide mental health and psychosocial assessments of adults and children, intensive case management, specialist individual and family-based interventions, referral, and psychoeducation to family members in accordance with relevant guidelines and literature. Facilitation of skills-based group interventions that may be provided to groups of families or groups of individuals from families receiving intervention from the WFT.

What you will bring to the role 

  1. Tertiary qualification and AHPRA registration or eligible member of professional association and experience. OT: Recognised qualification, with AHPRA registration; significant clinical experience in mental health setting. SW: Bachelor’s Degree; eligible for membership of AASW; significant clinical experience in mental health setting. Cnsllr: Bachelor’s degree in counselling or related field; significant experience in mental health setting. CNS: Relevant post-registration qualification & minimum 3 yrs experience in mental health setting. Snr Psych: Four-year degree in psychology (three-year degree + 4th year honours) or qualifications deemed equivalent by the LHD, AHPRA registered psychologist. Current Snr Psychologist or eligible for Snr Psychologist grading (no less than 12mos service at 9th year of service and thereafter rate).
  2. Demonstrated competence in delivering family focused, evidence based clinical assessment and intervention with a complex caseload in a community setting. This includes specialist knowledge of comorbid mental health and drug and alcohol problems, intra-familial child abuse and neglect, and contemporary family focused integrated treatment including risk assessment and safety planning
  3. Demonstrated advanced reasoning skills with proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team with minimal direct clinical supervision.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to act as an independent consultant and clinical leader in the specialty area of family focused mental health.
  5. Demonstrated partnership building and negotiation skills with a wide range of service providers and well developed understanding of the interface between services.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of the historical and contemporary issues which may impact on Australian Aboriginal family functioning and ability to provide a culturally appropriate service.
  7. Evidence of an advanced level of verbal/written communication skills, analytical and interpersonal skills and the ability to apply these skills to contribute to the Whole Family Team ongoing evaluation, monitoring and enhancement of service delivery.
  8. Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
