Armidale Rural Referral Hospital is seeking an Anaesthetist who wishes to pursue a career in a rural environment. Come and establish yourself as a valuable contributor to both the Armidale Hospital and the broader communities of the city of Armidale and New England area. We will negotiate with the successful candidate the role to be either that of a Visiting Medical Officer or Staff Specialist.

You will provide safe, efficient and effective Anaesthetic, emergency airway management, ventilation and acute pain service to patients of Armidale Rural Referral Hospital including providing support to a 5 bed HDU.
You will conduct preoperative outpatient consultancy services
We will explore with you the opportunity for conjoint appointments with Joint Medical Program, University of New England .
You will be well supported by a team of colleagues with a good mix of experience and enthusiasm, providing mentoring and support.

About Armidale Rural Referral Hospital
Armidale Hospital is a ninety nine bed facility providing a comprehensive range of services including acute medical and surgical services, obstetrics, paediatrics and a range of diagnostic and allied health services. A busy emergency department, a Level 3 Close Observation Unit, mental health unit and renal dialysis unit. The referral community of the area is 55,200. Adult Medical services include respiratory, cardiac, chemotherapy, renal and palliative care. Surgical services include general, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology and ophthalmology. The hospital is a spacious, modern and well-equipped with the most recent development opening in 2019. Tablelands Clinical School is part of the UON and UNE Joint Medical Program. Medical students undertake clinical placements and attend teaching at the clinical school which is exceptionally well resourced with simulation laboratories and tutorial rooms.

Armidale is set high on the beautiful Northern Tablelands and is known for its beautiful tree lined streets and magnificent autumn colours and has a distinctive seasonal climate. Armidale is located mid way between Sydney and Brisbane on the New England Highway with an abundance of transport options between the major cities. The region offers diversity in outdoor activities such as bushwalking in the nearby World Heritage listed National Parks offering spectacular gorges and waterfalls in Australia.
